Payments Analyst

Department: Payments Product and Credit Card
Location: Maitland, FL

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Monitor a portfolio of accounts for abnormalities
  • Use various tools to mitigate or reduce our potential for losses
  • Interact with merchants on action plans for reduction of risk
  • Compile sales activity, merchant counts, ISO/merchant portfolio health and other relevant data and provide insights to performance and trends
  • Work with outside agencies, account reps, partners and other resources to understand and validate our portfolio risk
  • Communicate with Banks and other sales sources regarding their specific portfolio
  • Forecast potential loss for each merchant we deem as a risk to Axiom Bank
  • Timely and effectively communicate with Axiom Management, applicable internal departments and/or vendors regarding the risk function
  • Investigative skip tracing at a business and personal level
  • Route, maintain and track outstanding service requests and provide thorough follow up.
  • Management of account reserves
  • Work with other risk analysts to control and monitor funding when risk is found
  • Abide by regulatory / network association deadlines
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as requested and complete all training as assigned
  • Maintains current knowledge and proficiency of the Bank Secrecy Act and all related Anti-Money Laundering and OFAC regulations
  • Remain current on network association proposed and implemented rule changes

Working Conditions:

  • This position is performed in a regular office work environment at the corporate location. The incumbent is expected to be able to work Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be needed and flexibility with work location and hours may be granted if circumstances permit.

Travel

  •  Less than 20%  

Qualifications Summary

Education:

  • Associates Degree in Business or equivalent work experience. Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years work-related experience in the financial services industry, merchant services and card acquiring
  • Proficiency in the knowledge of the credit card industry
  • Knowledge of chargebacks and suspension of funds
  • Experience in a customer facing financial services environment

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals, operational procedures, reports, etc.
  • Ability to create documents such as process guides, operational procedures, reports, etc.
  • Ability to analyze data, patterns, trends and draw conclusions and make recommendations for action
  • Good project management and organizational skills.  Ability to compile statistical data for documents and reports 
  • Strong MS Office skills – specifically Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of direct supervision and in a team environment
  • Interact professionally with senior management, staff, external auditors and bank examiners
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Adaptable to change
  • Ability to multi-task and perform all duties of junior analyst
  • Demonstrate problem solving, resolution and and troubleshooting skills
  • Listens actively to others
  • Openly shares feedback, information, ideas, and best practices
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong time management skills
  • Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation a plus
